Dual Credit Classes @ Vic High

 

Criminology 12/Criminology 166

An examination of Criminology as a social science; analysis of its theories, categories, and relevant research and its necessity and relation to other social science disciplines. This includes the study of crime, criminal behaviour and its causation, crime victims and consequences.

Political Studies 12/Political Science 104

This introductory course examines politics, political science, Canada’s political roots, the economic and social setting, the constitution, and federalism.

English 12/English 151

This course provides core critical thinking, reading, research and writing skills transferable to academic disciplines. Students practice various forms of academic writing, including summary, critical analysis, and written research. Analysis of textual rhetoric, discourse, and style, along with academic essay-writing, develops self-awareness of methods of inquiry, critique, and reflection.

Dual Credit Classes at  Camosun 

Dual credit courses and pathway programs let high school students explore new subjects and receive credit for post-secondary courses, while simultaneously receiving high school credit toward their graduation.

Dual Credit Classes at UVic

The uStart Program provides high-achieving Vic High students the opportunity to enroll in selected courses at the University of Victoria for dual credit during their Grade 12 year.  Four high school credits will be earned, as well as post-secondary credits.  Grade 11 applicants can now apply.

 

Trades-SD 61-1 Semester Exploration at another school

Auto Tech 

  • 13 weeks of instruction at Esquimalt High School
  • 7 weeks at Camosun College for the Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship Program
  • 100 hours of Work Experience to be completed before the Camosun portion
  • Graduate with a Dogwood, your Level 1 AST, and 28 extra high school credits

TASK

  • 1 Semester at Lambrick Park School
  • In the TASK program, students will have the opportunity to explore five different trades
  • They will also earn three different certifications

Trades Foundation at Camosun Level 1 Apprenticeship

After completing one of these programs in their grade 12 year, students will have logged hours toward their Level 1 Apprenticeship in their chosen trade.
