Futures in Justice: See Yourself in the Justice System
Are you curious about a career in law, policing, the courts, or the justice system? Futures in Justice is a unique opportunity for young women and gender-diverse youth from diverse backgrounds to spend a day at the Victoria Courthouse, meeting and learning from people who work throughout the justice system.
The event is designed to help students see themselves represented in careers they may not have considered before. Inspirational Indigenous and BIPOC guest panellists will include judges, lawyers, parole officers, legal assistants, police officers, court professionals, and others who help make our justice system work.
Throughout the day, students will hear about the different paths these professionals took to get where they are today, what their jobs are really like, and what students can start doing now to explore careers in law and justice.
Ask Your Questions
One of the highlights of the day will be a series of small breakout sessions, similar to speed networking. Students will spend approximately 10 minutes with different professionals before rotating to the next group.
This is your chance to ask the questions you really want answered: What does a typical day look like? What education did they need? What do they love about their career? What are the challenges? What advice would they give their high-school self?
You’ll have the opportunity to make connections, hear different perspectives, and discover just how many career possibilities exist within the justice system.
And Yes, Lunch Is Provided!
Students will spend the day learning, connecting and exploring, and lunch will be provided for all participants.
Space is limited and applications are open now. Students interested in attending should stop by the Career Centre to pick up an application.
If you are interested in law, justice, advocacy, policing, or simply want to discover careers you may not have considered before, Futures in Justice is a great opportunity to explore where your future could take you.
