HAIRSTYLIST

Hairstylists are attentive and creative tradespeople who help shape how we look and feel. They enjoy interacting with customers and working in a bustling environment.

Does this describe you?

As a Hairstylist, you’ll feel energized every time you meet a customer, sit them down and begin the process of designing their new look.

You’ll need to be friendly and precise as you work with multiple clients daily. In addition to cutting and trimming, you’ll also be looked at as an expert in hair care.

If the above describes you, check out SD61’s Hair Program at Vic High.

Work-Based Training Hours

For Career Preparation:

The student will be placed in a salon to complete 30D hours of work-based training. This part of the program integrates classroom theory with practical experience in the workplace. It allows Grade 11 and 12 students to explore a career in Hairdressing. This allows the students to gain valuable hands-on experience before starting work on a full-time basis. As a result, students will be better able to make sound and realistic decisions about their career choices.
Students also attend school to complete graduation requirements and continue with core subjects. With careful planning, the student can accrue the necessary hours to qualify for the BC Skilled Trades,  Hairstylist Level 1 Certification of Completion.
Further scholarship opportunities may be available for students who excel in this program.
